Conflict of interest: The Beer Up Here supplied me with a copy of this software app for the purpose of this review
What’s growing faster than fireweed this summer? Beer capacity, and since most of us, really want to know what’s available, either on tap now, or in the past, make a rating so we know what to order next time, then Joseph Tranquilla must have been thinking how he could respond with a killer app that does all this and MORE.

The Beer Up Here app for iPhone remarkably shows with colorful photos of beers, growlers, and breweries, what’s available, and it’s updated as seasons change on the brewing scene. What’s at stake, well, we have now an ad free resource that allows us to touch the name of any beer and detailed information appears: style, ABV, IBUs, color, malts, hops and adjuncts. Tap the screen again and a full-screen photo of the beer fades into view. He’s done his research, and will keep ahead of the curve. I liked the way I could easily find a alehouse or place to refill a growler, there are 22 breweries in Alaska, and when I launch the app, it immediately shows what’s new, updated. cool. and most helpful.

So, what do you learn about a brewery, let’s take one I visited recently, Arkose Brewery in Palmer. In the warehouse part of town and power packed with helpful owners, and a taproom schedule, phone and address, you can do a slideshow or use the tab to see what beers are there. If a new brew is there, it’s got a gold banner, and remember you can rate the beers too. of course, a clickable weblink to get me to Arkose. helpful. Adding a tab for events, tastings, etc would be nice in the future. and adding a quick look in each company’s list of beers which we consumer or try, would be nice too. Currently, it shows what you’ve rated in a long list of all beers by all companies.

We have 22 breweries, each one has a separate page, and clickable address/map to get your there pronto. A good feature called Community shows reviews by Dr Fermento of the Anchorage Press, a list of Alehouses, growler bars that will grow over time. I love the legal info on the App that says, We Traveled to every brewery listed in this application, we took every photo ( well done pro images), and drank every one. lucky job…

I think if you love a good beer when you travel the state, or want to know what’s new or coming to a brewery, then you really, really want this app…
