Conflict of interest disclosure:Chronic Logic provided a free copy of Astrodriller 3020 to me for the purposes of the review.

This game is a fun brain twisting game that makes you think fast. I have never really liked arcade games very much, but this game has totally changed my way of thinking about arcade games in a positive way. I like the way the game interacts with colors.

Many people, including myself will enjoy this product. I suggest that the company could make the game better by adding a story line of why the gamer is collecting precious gems besides for money. Also, you don’t need a disk to play the game.

This game is a fairly simple and entertaining. All you do is just try to grind the meteors into gems and draw lines in the correct angle in order to get the gems into the correct color tubes. If you get a wrong color in the wrong tube, you wont get as many points.

This game is full of strategic placement and angles of all sorts. There aren’t many commands that you have to use in order to play this game. Gradually, this game gets harder and harder. You must think fast and act quickly in order to pass the level. The bumper astroids help and give you a bonus. As you progress through the game it combines each of the different colors and the timing of which color comes out of the planet gets much more complicated.

It is kind of complicated trying to figure out which upgrade to choose though. I couldn’t decide whether to get more lines at one time, or to get longer duration of the line. I think that this game could be better if the upgrades varied more on the upgrade points. For example, instead of longer duration for the line costing 3 upgrade points, I think it should cost 5 points. The other upgrades should vary more instead of half of the choices all being 5 points. I think some should be 4 points, 6 points or 8 points. For the harder levels I think this game could be better if you extended the time for the level and for the sudden death at the end.

It is a good game that many people will enjoy and I hope you enjoy it if you buy it.

System Requirements: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 or OSX 10.3, 1.0 GHz processor, 512 Megabytes RAM, OpenGL or DirectX compatible accelerated 3D video card.
